Hello to all you tea time viewers!
Many of you are coming to the blog by way of the website that was originally created for just a gift shop. You need to know that my sister and I do not have internet use at the tea room. If you leave an email from the website, you may or may not get an answer back that same day or even the next day. If you want immediate tea room information or want to make a reservation, you really just need to call us at the tea room. We are usually there early in the morning. If you can't reach us you can leave a message and we will get back to you the next morning.
**We highly recommend you make reservations. Many days we are fillled with groups and we have had to turn many away. Reservations also help us plan for our day.

Many of our customers ask us the history of the tea room house. What we know to the best of our knowledge has come from the Gallatin Archives, long time Gallatin residents and previous owners of the house.
The house construction dates about 1854. The style is a single story Victorian Shotgun Duplex (because of the 2 front doors). It was built for and served as the Parsonage for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church on East Main Street and later a bachelor's quarters for some of Gallatins single men. Sometime around 1930-40 the house was moved just around the corner to its present location on College Street. The house now sits on a full finished basement. Much of the house is original inside and out. We love the 12 foot ceilings! Over the years there has been some restoration as well as renovation on the house but it has retained its historical character.

- The English Garden Gift Shop and Tea Room is owned by two sisters with a strong love of family, friends and tea time food. At a young age, we have many memories of our mother entertaining friends and family at the kitchen or dining room table. This occured almost on a daily basis. While those times were not "tea parties", our home was always open for a cup of tea or coffee and a plate of our moms homemade goodies. Her gift of hospitality has been passed on to the two of us. We were raised in Lewiston NY (a little historical town just outside of Niagara Falls NY). Lori has lived in TN for 32 yrs since marrying her southern husband. She shares her moms love to cook and bake ,therefore, does the cooking at the English Garden Tea Room. Linda and her family moved to TN in 2006 after tiring of the snow and cold weather in NY. She has a love for antiques and the Victorian era. Linda keeps the tea room and gift shop looking beautiful with her decorating and gift shop item selections. Lori and Linda decided to combine their passions and open a tea room. In December of 2007 we opened the door of this 1880's Victorian home to serve our customers.
